Kanpur: A woman was visiting for Bhai Dooj, jumped into the Sengur River while returning to her marital home with her spouse in Jua village under the limits of Phaphund police station in Auraiya.

Despite rescue attempts by the villagers, she was pronounced dead by medical staff at CHC Ajitmal. The police have initiated post-mortem proceedings.
Kamini, 22, wed Amit Sankhwar from the Vansi Katra area of Etawah district on April 21 this year. She was the daughter of Lakshmi Chandra Sankhwar (also called Kuldeep) from Jua village. She visited her paternal home for Bhai Dooj on Sunday. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon when, while travelling on a motorcycle with her husband, she suddenly jumped from the Sengur River bridge. Following her plunge, the nearby villagers immediately attempted a rescue operation while alerting emergency services. Although rushed to CHC Ajitmal, she could not be saved. The relations between the couple were reportedly strained since their marriage. Kamini was the only sister to three elder brothers: Rohit, Mohit, and Nitin.
Station officer Ganga Das Gautam said that the woman, visiting Jua for Bhai Dooj, lost her life after jumping into the river.
